Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Tap "Register" on the login page. Enter your email, create a password (8+ characters with uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character), and confirm your date of birth (you must be 18+). After registering, you'll be guided through a 7-step profile wizard to complete your profile.
When you first join, you'll complete: 1) Basic info (display name & birthday), 2) Photos (3–20 required, first must show your face), 3) Demographics (gender, location, height, etc.), 4) Introduction & narratives, 5) Interests & hobbies, 6) Personality quiz (45 questions), and 7) Matching preferences. All steps are required before you can start discovering matches.
Your first photo must clearly show your face — this ensures authenticity and helps other users feel confident they're seeing real people. The app uses face detection to verify this automatically. Additional photos can show anything you like.
Password resets are currently handled by our support team. If you're having trouble logging in, use the chat below and we'll get you back into your account promptly.
On your Profile edit page, click the "Preview Profile" button at the top right (next to the tabs). This opens a read-only preview showing exactly how other users see your profile, without any editing controls.
Your Profile
Click "Profile" in the top navigation bar. Your profile editor is organized into tabs: Demographics (with sections for Identity, Address, Physical, Lifestyle, Professional, and Relationships), Photos, Introduction, Interests, Personality, and Preferences. Each section can be saved independently.
Your Display Name is what other users see on the Discover page and on your profile. It can be your first name, a nickname, or whatever you'd like to go by. Your First Name, Last Name, and email address are kept private and are never shown to other users.
Other users can see your Display Name, age, city and state, occupation, height, and anything you choose to share in your written narratives and interests. Your full name, email address, and exact home address are never visible to other users.
You can upload between 3 and 20 photos. You can set any photo as your "main" photo (shown first to other users), delete photos, or add new ones anytime from the Photos tab in your profile editor.
The personality quiz has 45 questions scored on a 1–5 scale (Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree). Your answers generate scores across 15 personality dimensions — including Empathy, Emotional Intimacy, Assertiveness, Adaptability, and Introversion — that drive your compatibility scores. You can retake the quiz anytime to update your scores.
Interests are organized into 6 categories: Hobbies, Sports & Fitness, Food & Drink, Travel, Character Traits, and Music. Select the ones that apply to you — shared interests contribute up to 55 points out of 210 to your match score.
Yes. In the Demographics tab under the Address section, you can enter your address (Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, State, Zip, Country). Start typing in Address Line 1 and the app will suggest matching addresses to auto-fill the fields. Your exact address is never shown to other users — only your city and state are displayed.
Discovery & Matching
The Discover page shows you profiles one at a time as cards. Each card displays the person's main photo, display name, age, location, and a compatibility score out of 210. You can Like (heart), Pass (X), or click the card to view their full profile before deciding.
Match scores range from 0–210 and combine eight signals: Personality similarity across 15 dimensions (up to 60 points), Shared Interests (up to 55 points), Narrative keyword overlap (up to 25 points), Life Values alignment (up to 20 points), Religion alignment (up to 15 points), Political alignment (up to 15 points), mutual Preference fit (up to 10 points), and Verified Relationship Goals (up to 10 points). A machine-learning layer refines scores over time based on real matching outcomes.
In your Preferences tab, you can set a minimum match score between 50 and 200. Only profiles scoring at or above this threshold will appear in your Discover feed. Higher values mean fewer but more compatible matches. The default is 75 — try lowering it if your feed feels empty.
Tapping the heart sends a Like. You can optionally include a short intro message (up to 500 characters). If they Like you back, you're matched and both of you are notified. If they haven't decided yet, your Like sits in their Received Likes tab.
Passing removes that profile from your Discover feed. They won't know you passed, and they won't appear in your current session again. Passing has no impact on your match score.
You've seen all available profiles that meet your current preferences. Try lowering your minimum match score, increasing your search radius, or broadening your age range to see more people. New users also join regularly!
Likes & Connections
Go to the "Likes" page from the navigation bar. The "Received" tab shows all profiles that have liked you. You can Like them back (which creates a Match) or Pass.
A Match happens when two people Like each other. When you get a match, you'll see a celebration alert. The match immediately appears in your Connections list, where you can open a chat.
A Connection is a mutual match — both of you Liked each other. Connections appear on the Connections page and unlock the ability to chat. Click on any connection to open the conversation.
Once you match, a chat thread opens in your Connections. Either person can send the first message — there's no waiting around. Head to the Connections page and tap the match to start the conversation.
Messaging
You can only message people you are connected with (mutual matches). Go to Connections, click on a connection to open the chat. Type your message (up to 2000 characters) and press Enter or click the send button. Messages are delivered in real-time.
Yes. Messages use WebSocket technology for instant delivery. You'll see a green "Live" indicator when the real-time connection is active. If you go offline, messages will still be there when you return.
In any chat, click the flag icon in the top-right corner. Select a reason (Harassment, Inappropriate Content, Fake Profile, Spam, or Other), optionally add details, and submit. Our moderation team reviews every report.
Safety & Privacy
You can report a profile from the chat screen using the flag icon. Select a reason and provide any details. Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action — warnings, content removal, or account suspension depending on severity.
No. Your email address is never shown to other users. Only your Display Name, age, city/state, occupation, height, and what you choose to share in your narratives and interests are visible on your profile.
Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Depending on severity, actions can include warnings, content removal, or account suspension. You won't receive a notification about the specific action taken, but every report is investigated.
Preferences & Settings
Click "Preferences" in the navigation bar (or go to Profile > Preferences tab). You can adjust: age range, search radius (10–500 miles), minimum match score (50–200), and optional filters for gender, religion, smoking, drinking, ethnicity, income, education, and politics.
Click the "Sign Out" button on the right side of the navigation bar.
Account Issues
This usually means your profile creation wasn't fully completed. Try signing out and back in, then finish the profile wizard. If the issue persists, contact support through the chat below.
Yes. You can delete your account at any time through your profile settings. When you delete your account, all your personal data, photos, messages, and matches are permanently removed from our systems.
Try these steps: 1) Lower your minimum match score in Preferences (try 50–75), 2) Increase your search radius, 3) Broaden your age range, 4) Make sure your profile is complete with photos, interests, and personality quiz. Profiles with more complete information tend to score higher in matches.
Safety & Date Check-ins
A central place for first-date safety: a pre-date checklist, emergency contact storage, live "Date Check-in" location sharing, and links to RAINN and FTC resources. Open it from the shield icon in the top nav (web) or the shield icon in any page header (mobile).
Open the Safety Hub → Emergency Contacts → add up to 3 trusted people with name and phone or email. They are only contacted when you start a Date Check-in. They are never shown to your matches.
A time-boxed session you start before a date. You name it ("Coffee with Alex"), set a return time, and pick which emergency contacts to notify. They get a private link to see your status and (on mobile) live location until you end the check-in.
No. Date Check-ins are private to you and the trusted contacts you select. Your match is never notified or shown the link.
Tapping I'm safe ends the check-in, stops location sharing immediately, and updates the link your contacts are watching to show "ended safely." We delete the location history once the check-in ends.
When the return time passes, your contacts' link automatically changes to "overdue" so they know to reach out. We don't auto-call emergency services — you stay in control.
The hub links to RAINN's 24/7 support hotline and the FTC's romance-scam guidance. We're not a substitute for either — they're the right people to call in a real emergency or after a serious incident.
Live location requires the mobile app's GPS. On the web you can still start a Check-in with a return time and notify your contacts — they'll see "overdue" if you don't end it on time, just no live map.
Yes. Removing an emergency contact deletes their record immediately. Location pings are deleted when a check-in ends. Past check-in summaries can be cleared from the Safety Hub history view.
